How Tiny Home Systems chooses, researches, and publishes its work, in plain language.
Independence
Tiny Home Systems is editorially independent. We don’t accept paid articles, sponsored placements, or “contributed” posts that are really advertising in disguise. We don’t take products in exchange for coverage. Display advertising is the only commercial relationship we maintain, and the ad network has no influence over what we publish.
How we choose topics
Most ideas come from three places: questions readers ask us, problems we’re working through in our own small home, and gaps we notice in the existing literature. We’d rather write the article we wished existed than chase whatever is trending.
How we research
For each article, we read across multiple primary sources, manufacturer documentation, building science research, code references, peer-reviewed studies when relevant, and we test the system or routine ourselves. If we can’t test it, we say so plainly and we lean on the testing of trusted independent sources.
How we write
Articles are written by real humans. We don’t use AI to generate article drafts. We use simple prose, avoid hype, and try to write what a careful friend would tell you if they’d worked through the same problem.
How we edit
Every article goes through at least one editorial pass, usually two, before it’s published. We check claims, tighten language, and add structure where it helps the reader. We update older articles when conditions change.
Corrections
If we get something wrong, we fix it openly. We add a short note at the bottom of the article describing what was corrected and when. We don’t silently edit factual mistakes.
Reader trust
The only reason this site exists is because readers find it useful. We protect that trust by being honest about what we know, what we don’t, and where our information comes from.
