A 200-square-foot home has no compost heap behind the shed, because there is no shed, and usually no yard, no balcony, and no spare corner that stays out of sight. That sounds like a reason to give up on composting. It is not. A small home can process a real share of its food scraps indoors, and the whole decision comes down to three practical questions: how much heat the system can hold, how much smell you are willing to live with, and where the finished material will actually go.
Why a tiny kitchen still produces a compost-sized problem
Small homes generate less trash than large ones, but the proportion of food waste stays stubbornly high.
