Ask anyone who has lived in a tiny home what wore them down first, and laundry tends to come up before almost anything else. It is also the problem with the most quietly good answers. The setup that works is rarely the one with the biggest drum or the longest feature list. It starts with two numbers you already control: how much water you can spare for each load, and how many watt-hours you can hand to drying. Get those two right and the machine almost picks itself.
Decide your water and power budget first
A tiny home rarely has an unmetered water main and a spare 240-volt line waiting in the wall. You are usually working from a fixed holding tank, a rainwater catchment system, or a solar array with a real ceiling on daily output. So the honest first step is arithmetic, not shopping.
Start with water. A full-size ENERGY STAR certified washer uses 14 gallons of water per load, against 20 gallons for a standard machine, and that 6-gallon gap matters when your tank holds 40 gallons and still has to cover dishes and showers. Multiply the per-load figure by how often you actually wash, then check it against your weekly refill or catchment.
